I am not very clever with technology and am hopeing someone can advize me (in simple terms)! how to add my lap-top to my printer. At present the printer is connected to my desk-top one and I would like to be able to print stuff when on my lap-top as well.

Insert the driver disc (supplied with the printer) into the laptop cd/dvd drive and load the printer drivers on the laptop.

Unplug the printer cable at the desk-top pc and plug it into your laptop.

The laptop should now recognise the the printer and allow you to print from your laptop.
I presume you mean a wired connection .. not a wireless connection?
That can be done if you have a wireless router and the laptop is wireless enabled (which most are)
If the printer is ethernet (LAN) connectable, one can connect printer to that and print from any PC/laptop connected to the network.
If your laptop and desktop both access the internet via a router then you can "share" the dekstop printer with the laptop.

Leave the printer connected to the desktop, but set it up to be shared.

Then install the printer drivers on your laptop so it "finds" the printer.

Then you can print from the desktop or the laptop to the same printer. Note the desktop PC needs to be turned on if you want to print from the laptop.

Probably easiest to look in the Windows help. Search for phrases like "printer sharing" or "sharing a printer".
Yes .. OK ... but who wants to run a desktop up just to quickly print something from laptop!
