"If you are having a religious wedding, you need to state the name of your priest" according to your link.
On another website it said that your priest in the UK would have to Liaise with Maltese Priest and even produce documentation to prove you are catholic.
Yes - IF you are having a religious wedding. It doesn't say you have to. That's my interpretation. I've googled and it does seem a far more secular society than it used to be, although the Church remains very important on the island. I'll ask my friend if you want me to?
Why Malta NM.Went there about 10 years ago, and on touring the island most of it was like a bomb site. I enjoyed Valletta (sp) horse drawn carriages etc. The best part was a ferry ride to Gozo, and going down the caves where the priests hid and preached.
I hadn't realised until we visited that Malta has relics from so long ago - from present times, going back to prehistory, a vital stopping off point during so many campaigns in even pre-Roman times. We'll be back.
Malta is a place that you either love or hate!...no half measures!.......we love it there!........like going back in time!.......the people are so friendly and welcoming!.....they are Roman Catholics, and very religious people!.....but very welcoming!.......we honrymooned there many years ago, still go back to see friends that we met all those years ago!.......you'll love it!........good luck!
