What Was That First Birthday Present You Really Wanted And Received

Mine was a Timex watch when I was 11, it had a gold face and a corded black strap, oh how I loved that watch

With the passage of time, I can't really remember which presents were on which birthdays (or, indeed, which were birthday presents and which were Christmas presents). The first present that I can remember asking for, and getting, was one of these. (I'd probably have been around 7 or 8 then):

I also had a Timex watch though but it was earlier than my 11th birthday, as I can certainly remember what I begged for, and got, that year: A puppy!

I was told when I was 10 I would receive a bicycle (56 years ago) I really loved that bike. my dad said i was to memorise the code number stamped on it should it be stolen, so I did . 60718EA

When we were given the results of the 11 plus, 3 of us had passed and were allowed out of school to go and inform our parents. My mother's less than enthusiastic reaction was, "Great, that means i have to buy you a uniform, now!"
I got a threepenny bit off an aunt though an uncle did buy me a flashy briefcase for my first day at Burnley Grammar.
