thinking of going to antigua easter next year but as fuel prices are on the up, am wondering whether to put off booking until the new year in case holiday prices tumble
just wondered if anyone has already booked to go, or has any good advice as its a lot of money to waste if it all goes belly up

Can't advise on the travel prices but i have been to antigua in March a few years sgo. Stayed at the Jolley Beach resort. Was a beautiful place (although the rooms could have been better). There was very little to do on the site of the hotel in the evening so you had to travel to find some entertainment. Saying that, i would go back in a second. Good luck with you decision to go or not to go.
I strongly suspect that as all the airlines re putting prices up, the holidays will be gradually getting more expensive.
There is also the distinct probability that a number of smaller airline will go under.
On this basis, book sooner rather than later, with the most established airline you can, and ensure the airline/agent you book with is ABTA and ATOL covered, so if they go under, you dont lose out.
Also make sure you have travel insurance covering you continuously from when you book. Trips booked before you buy cover wont be covered if things later go wrong.
On the actual destination front. i went to antigua. It is very pretty, and enjoyable, but it is one of the quieter islands, so if you are after a mad party, its probably not the right island.

Not necessarily true - you will be covered from the time you buy insurance PROVIDED the event against which you are insuring hasn't already happened. So if you want cover against the airline going bankrupt, it's no good buying it after the bankruptcy has been announced
