Things to do near Torrevieja
6 Answers
We are staying near Torrevieja in Spain for the last two weeks of September.
Would be grateful if anyone could reccommend:
traditional spanish restaurants, family days out, markets, places of interest or anything else worth doing/seeing within an hours drive.
Many thanks

There are occasional street markets, not particularly original goods on sale, but everyone flocked to them to break up the monotony.
If you travel inland to Elche, or along the coast to Cartagena these are interesting small towns but the rest of the area seems to suffer badly from over-development.
Every so often there is yet another new shopping mall with a variety of restaurans from Hungarian to Chinese, but very little of the authentic local, I thnk cos the authentic locals are outnumbered by holidaymakers and incomers.

Sorry to agree with others but we stayed in Cabo Roig 3 years ago too and I found Torrevieja was boring. We only went for the day by bus. It was my first trip to mainland Spain. We hired a car for 3 days out of the week and drove down to La Manga that was boring too. Thank god we hadn't booked to stay 2 weeks. The whole holiday was like being in a British seaside town but with sunshine. All the restaurants were like everything you found at home, Chinese, Italian, Indian etc. We have spent all our other holidays on various Greeck islands and love them.
