this was when I was there:
It rarely rains from April to August. July and August are Malta's hottest months with daytime temperatures usually above 30ºC (86ºF) and quite often also above 35ºC (95ºF). The highest ever was in August 1999 when the temperature once went up to 44ºC (111ºF) in the shade at Luqa Airport. However, since humidity is rather high in Malta (due to the fact that Malta is an island) summer temperatures can feel quite irritating, thereby making it quite often unbearable to stay out in the sun.
cos, douglas I have better things to do than type out every letter of every ex British colony that drives on the Sugar-filled continent of Africa - and just for the record I have been to all of the said African nations, English speaking and otherwise, bar 5 (for my sins).
we didn't have aircon and OH wouldn't leave the window open in case of Mossies - hotel room was tiny - like living in a oven, the pool was on the roof and I am scared of heights. we fell out good and proper on that holiday just cos I was feeling so bloody miserable - I am usually okay with the heat and generally perfectly happy with the really high temps, but that was something else in Malta. that 44 degrees was in the shade - recon it was hitting 50 in the sun.
okay, The Builder.. it was random, but get the guest room ready ;o)
I drove in Spain a couple of years ago and I was bloody terrified. I drove on little windy roads with a sheer drop next to me, and cars were coming at me in the middle of the road. I'm a confident driver here, but that was HELL!
having said all that Malta itself was lovely and we had a good day in Gozo - it seemed windier so felt a bit more refreshed.......and we're still married so we did make it up again.
