Where would suggestion for a European weekend city break (3/4 days) based on the following:
I am taking my parents (in their 60s)
We have done Rome, Paris and Brugges
Not interested in Christmas Markets (been to one been to them all in my view!!)
Not especially interested in museums or galleries
Interested in landmarks and history
Can be any time of year - but probably Spring 2012

My sister went to Budapest for a long weekend, she thought it was a lovely city.
Barcelona. If you liked Rome then you'll love it - much less dog sh!t and graffitti than Rome!

boxy, I agree, Budapest is lovely, the thing we found that spoiled the appearance, was the amount of Graffiti daubed on the lovely old buildings.

Prague is lovely too as is Kracow all have their own touch of beauty
Barcelona, as others have said; plus the excellent list from Bobbi. Venice and Amsterdam are also fascinating places.
Here's another vote for Barcelona.

It's fantastic!

Loads of history and culture, beautiful architecture, superb food, great weather, lovely beaches, a cheap (fully integrated) transport system. . . Oh, I could go on for ages but it's far easier to direct you to the city's official website ;-)

a friend of mine has just come back from Valencia and swears it's the new Barcelona. But you might like to see the old one first!
Prague - loads to see and still reasonably cheap. We went at end of March & had a lovely time.

I know its not Europe but Istanbul is my all time favourite place for a short break.
I'd say good, but then I'm biased!
Lovely city, plenty going on, wouldn't live anywhere else.
