How to renew passports
I need to renew my passport before I plan next summer's holiday. Ive looked online but dont trust any of the sites that pop up. Do I go to the post office? Also, in the last ten years I have changed a lot. Will I need a new photo too? Who decides?

The Post Office can supply you with Passport Renewal Forms.
If you feel confident after filling them in that you have got them right, send them off to the passport office with two photos and the fee and bobs your uncle. If you are less confident, the Post Office will check them for you and send them off for a fee of ( I think) £8.50.

Go to the post office, they'll give you a pack - you can get the photos done in a booth, then they will check it for you.
Depending on where you live, you can fasttrack your renewal - then the PO take the photo too. OH did that as he needs his passport for work - he got it back in five days.
The direct.gov site is the official passport site, don't go to anywhere else.
