Clearwater - Florida

Has anyone been to Clearwater.  Have been to Orlando but going to Clearwater in October.  Any tips.

Hi Peri! I am an American, originally from Tenn., currently living in Alabama...but my boyfriend is from Clearwater/Tampa, FL...I have had the opportunity to join him on a trip to his home twice now and have really learned a lot about this beautiful area of Florida!

Tips: If you are in Clearwater,...you may want to visit the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs (only about 15 min. from Clearwater). Tarpon used to be the major sponge diving area of Florida (you will find many shops, places to eat, and lots of real sponges) and Tarpon is mostly Greek...so get you an authentic Greek salad, they are yummy!

Also, try to visit Frenchy's Grill on Clearwater Beach for some great seafood and a fun atmosphere...you can sit outside on the deck right on the beach and watch the sunset!

Finally, if you want to venture out somemore, try to find your way to St. Petersburg too! (about 30 min. from Clearwater)...this is a beautiful area...where I hope to move with my boyfriend someday!!

Sounds idyllic, HAnn.  Im really looking forward to it.  There will be 5 of us as we have 3 kids 8 - 15 yrs.  My 15 year old is looking forward to the water sports.  I will definitely try Frenchys Grill, sounds lovely.

Hi Peri,

   Clearwater is great. been three times and going back again next Feb, I can vouch for Frenchy's, also Crabby Bill's and Cooters.

Just dont be like us on our last visit and catch the tail end of a hurracain. Fantastic lightning but constant rain!

TOP TIP!

on your first night take a barefoot walk along the beach at sunset. its great!
