Vegas Hotels

We are going to Vegas and the Canyon next May - would like a hotel on the Strip but just don't know which to choose. There are positive and negative comments for all of them and it is a minefield.
One person described a hotel as having 'a pleasant aroma' and another described the same hotel as 'stinking'.
Can anyone help with recommendations/comments please?

I have stayed in Camelot and the Monte Carlo in the last few years and I could not fault either of them. Monte Carlo is more expensive than Camelot but it is central on the strip. You only spend so much time in your hotel room and once you leave the hotel lobby to go to one of the thousands of rooms available in each hotel I think they are very similar. So suggest that you look for amenities available to suit yourselves in each hotel before making your choice remembering that Fri, Sat, Sun night stays are more expensive than rest of week. hope that helps.

It is hard to choose one from the other, so once you've done price, location and facilities, read the reviews and see if you can find one with quiet air con!

We went in May and it was really really hot. 110 during the day and 100 degrees at night. The hotel was fine but the air con noisy and I couldn't sleep with it on. We had to leave it on all evening while we were out of the room to cool it and switch if off at the last minute before we slept.

Quiet air con would have been a huge advantage.

Bellagio is by far and away the best on the strip, we stayed at its sister hotel Monte Carlo in february, it was very good.

The flight to the canyon is well worth it too.

We also loved the Bellagio - couldn't fault it! Drove to the Canyon and stayed at the El Tovar. It was brilliant staying over as it was so peceful when the tourists went in the evening & the stars!!!!! gorgeous.

We've stayed at a number of places over the years, some knocked down now! The Venetian was lovely, lots in the hotel if you're not keen on gambling, if you book, make sure you can cancel for free as rates often improve nearer the time, we booked and cancelled the same hotel three times recently, eventually getting half the original rate. If you're prepared to be slightly off the strip, Tuscany Suites has enormous rooms and is only a couple of blocks off the centre of the Strip and it can be a lot cheaper.

Not on the strip, would need to use the shuttle service or small fee in a cab to hit the main strip and tourist traps. My uncle enjoyed his stay here and reccomended it to me when I was planning a trip. Further to that I take no responsibility!! (Hate reccomending as a rule)

I have stayed at NYNY,Camelot,MGM,Luxor,Wild Bills Gambling Saloon, Riveria and Circus circus, the latter being the only one I would not go back again to. Personally I would not pay for the Bellagio or the Wynn because you only want somewhere to put your head down there is so much to see & do that you wont spend much time in your room. I also would not stay off the Strip because if you do its a taxi on to the strip all the time, even the Hilton isnt on the strip neither is the Rio but its worth going to visit the Rio to see their carnival procession which runs every couple of hours and its free,lots of free things to do, on arrival ask the reception for a free copy of Whats On magazine and use it as your bible.Have a great time its like Disney for gown ups.
