Having never traveeled I am now going to the usa, I have bought luggage but am not sure of the weight I am allowed or the size for checking and carry on luggage

It will depend on the airline - ask them or look at their website.
BA gave me a 32Kg allowance last year, this was in economy class as well flying from Heathrow to Denver

To North/South America you are allowed 2pieces.

I.e two suit cases at 32kg per case.

Hand luggage will be between 7-10kgs depending on the airline.

I'm assuming you're flying economy on a charter flight for a holiday, yes? Than you will probably be allowed 20 kgs.(44lbs) and hand luggage weighing roughly 9kgs.(20lbs(ish)).Hand luggage dimensions, if my memory serves me correctly, 8"x16"x22"(inches).
