We are hiring a motorhome or camper van end Aug/begnning Sept and hope to tour the above. To take in Santiago de Compostella (Spain) & Porto.

We plan to fly to Gijon, then take the van from there. For around 10 days.

Any tips on campsites etc? Any advice whatsoever to newbie campers? We have extensive experience of sailing, ports & marinas, but none of motorhomes.

We only have approx 10 days so don't think we'll make it as far down as the Algarve.

I have ordered 3 books from amazon - I just wondered if anyone had first hand experience of that neck of the world.
5 star hotels and luxury cruises i could help you with, due to my extensive experiences......but......errm!....campsites...............No.

;-)

I don't mean a tent sqad - luxury motorhome.

Our 'luxury' holiday is usually around October, for my birthday - this is our attempt at a hippie holiday before we get too frail and elderly; I'm sure you understand ? ;-)
Sqad..if you give sal your card details im sure she will be very happy to research your reccomendations !!!
LOL...LOL...I do indeed.
Ten days with you in a "campervan" would just about finish me off.....and you probably...
I once walked to the tomb of the apostle, St James, in Compostela but that would be of little interest to you if you're driving. You could drive to Muxia, reputed in olden times to be the end of the world. Finisterre also claims the same distinction. Great seafood, too. You could try the pulpo ala Gallega, Octopus.

Sqad - what a way to go !!!!

Don't come a knocking if the motorhome's a rocking. :-)
