Only been once Lynda. Decided never again. We stayed in Los Chistianos. We were also pestered all the time by time share sellers. I believe the main man who I won't name on here was jailed for his actions.
The time share touts used to be a real pain but the authorities have clamped down on it now (the only ones we saw on our last visit was at the airport on our way home and they got short shrift from us)
Los Christianos is better than Las Americas. Our first stay in Tenerife was in Adjeci? at Laguna Park 2 it was the worst holiday ever, hundreds of cats and ditto mosquitos worst of all was the daily visits to our apartment of gigantic cockroaches. Las Americas was better. If you are going north of the island it is usually cooler there, we stayed in Porta de la Cruz one April it was Ok in the mornings but cooler and cloudier in the afternoons. For me Majorca is better.

yes I like Majorca ayg.. we went there last year and just wanted a change of scene for this year and Tenerife was somewhere we hadn't been the only thing is I wish we hadn't booked for 11 days got a feeling it may be a bit to long especially if we don't like Tenerife.
Don't worry, you've been given a lot of negativity here. I think you'll love it.
Question Author
yes YL hopefully we will
It all depends on what you're after. There's something there for everyone. If you want a busy night life, with pubs and clubs, etc - then Veronica's, in Las Americas, is the place to go.
If you want a quieter place, there's plenty on offer.
We've been for the past 4 years over Xmas and we'll hopefully be going again this year.
As for the touts etc, just politely refuse and they'll get the message that you're not interested and move on to someone else.
Question Author
we don't want the clubs Giz just nice restaurants and hopefully a relaxing holiday
Los Cristianos is quieter than Las Americas, although there are quiet spots in Las Americas too.
Plenty of local bars and smaller/quieter pubs wherever you go, if you stay away from the main drags :)
Hosing pavements in Tenerife and mainland Spain and other countries is common in the mornings. Usually done by council staff. You will also see shop/bar owners/staff using water and a mop to clean the fronts of their premises.
Irrigation systems are turned on in the mornings making pavements wet.
