national express do
I would go by train. It will take you an age to get there on a coach.
...perhaps timing is not that important....but it should be cheaper by coach.
It's over 7 hours by coach (although the fastest is actually 6 hours 40 mins) but, as has been indicated, National Express operate direct services 4 times per day, with additional services requiring a change at Preston.

Megabus operate from Preston to London, but not from Blackpool.
>>>but it'll be at least £70 more by train

Not necessarily. Some train travel might actually be cheaper. e.g. evening services cost just £21.50 when booked well in advance. (That's based upon taking a look at prices on Thu 21 Nov, when that price applies at 1920, 2020 and 2044). Return services can be even cheaper (e.g. on Thu 28 Nov, departing at either 2110 or 2140 will get you a £16.00 fare):

It's well over 10 hours by coach, Chris - crisgal is heading for Brighton, not London

Advance train fares can still be very cheap though

I'm glad that someone's awake tonight!
(and I've not even touched a drop, honestly!).

Sorry for the misinformation, Crisgal. However, if you decide to go by train you should look into booking the Blackpool to London and London to Brighton sectors separately. There are some good fares offered between London and Brighton if you take the slightly slower trains (from Farringdon Blackfriars or London Bridge), rather than the express services from Victoria

thank you x
You can certainly go by coach and change at Victoria - but it's a hell of a long journey, as I can vouch from the year I went by coach to see the Blackpool Lights.
