For the above, what is unmissable? Not especially interested in inanimate museums, no car - and more like 1.5 days once travel time to arrive on day one taken into account!

A visit to the People's Palace and Winter Gardens is a must - step back in history. Delicious coffee and food too.

Hunterian Art Gallery is also worth a visit

This gallery houses the largest collection of Whistlers in the world.
PS, I'm in Glasgow on Friday but only for about 4 hours at a meeting. I'm jealous of you having two days. Love this city - it's like New York - it never sleeps.
The ' House for an Art Lover ' in Bellahouston Park is a beautiful building based on a Rennie McIntosh design , the Peoples Palace is full of artefacts and stories about Glasgows history.

If you like architecture I would just go for a stroll round Buchanan Street, Royal Exchange Square and Sauchiehall street and look at the buildings above the level of the shops. Lots of lovely old sandstone buildings with nice wee touches easily missed by those hurrying along and staring straight ahead.
