Me and my boyfriend would like to spend xmas in a cottage in the cotswolds, for 2-3 nights from xmas eve until boxing day or the day after. Has anyone done this before or can anyone recommend anywhere really nice and romantic we could go to? (preferably by a pub!!)

I have already searched on google and looked at all the larger companies, but nothing beats first hand experience of this sort of thing.

thanks

I would recommend contacting the tourist information office (there's one in Stow-On-The-Wold). If you want somewhere with a few pubs there are a few nice towns (Stow, Burford, Bourton-On-The-Water, which has a Christmas tree in the river) and many villages with a single pub.

Hi pagey,

The National Trust in the Costwolds have quite few "character" cottages.Go this link for more information:~

I can personally recommend the NT's "Distons Cottage" in Snowshill, right opposite Snowshill Manor.Just down the street(in a quiet village) is the Snowshill Arms serving locally brewed(and somewhat lethal) local ale!

The cottage is just a sitting/dining room(with open log fire) & kitchen downstairs, and a bedroom and en suite upstairs(very romantic).

I speak from experience having stayed in it 4 times!

Have Fun!

PS:~ This is the link to the NT's Cotswold Cottages if you want to look at them direct, but ALL the NT's Cottages are worth looking at.

Broadway is a very nice village .....looks like a postcard.
