Yes I did but had to keep on doing it as I returned to the inside lane & this slowed down again. I don't like travelling in the outside lane and don't want to hog the middle lane or undertake
I've popped back,
He's doing 65, so you overtake him then go to the Left hand lane and slow down, so he overtakes you, again at 65, so you overtake him then go to the left hand lane and slow down, so he overtakes .... . . . .
if you wanted to drive at less than 65 in the left hand lane, why did you keep overtaking him then slow down, doesn't make sense?
Then surely you would have stayed in the middle lane rather than pull back into the noticeably slower left hand one, perhaps he wasn't such a plonker after all?
It is not 'middle lane hogging' if you are passing a constant stream of slower moving traffic in the inside lane. granny grump should have overtaken and then stayed in the middle lane until she was clear of slower traffic in the inside lane before moving back in.
Sorry Granny but it is you that was in the wrong.
The inside lane is often so full of slow moving lorries that it is effectively 'out of bounds' for faster traffic.
It would be annoying, but as others mentioned, unless your car can only manage 66mph it should have been a short lived annoyance. What intrigues me is others who get het up because they've caught up with someone staying in the middle lane only going 85mph, or similar.
Having read the thread now I can see the situation better. It seems you each had different driving styles where one felt it important to return to the left lane at every opportunity whilst the other thought it more prudent to return only when a decent sized gap was available. Other driving styles can be irksome. But in fairness I find those drivers who are clearly trying to be an ass much more annoying.
