Hey, I recently travelled to the States for holidays, and I got a longboard as a gift. I live in Rome, would I be able to take it back with me on the plane either as luggage or carry-on?

It's entirely at the discretion of the airline, so which one will you be flying with? (Alitalia, American, Delta and United all have flights from US airports to Fiumicino Airport).
I think it is fair to say that they are unlikely to allow it as carry on though, it's unlikely to fit in any of the lockers!
A good point, EC ;-)
Check with your airline. I have seen many a surfboard in the aircraft hold. There might be a charge for it
