She says it's easy to find company if you want it - lots of Brits eager to embrace singletons, but you can happily spend time on your own, too. Take a Kindle, book or phone for something to look at in restaurants if you want to be alone.
Also been travelling on my own for many years.
I tend to have a big lunch in a restaurant where there are lots of families, and then you don't feel so out of place, as in the evenings they tend to be mainly couples. Have a sandwich or take out later.
You will really appreciate the joy of not having to consult anyone on your plans for the day.
If you can fit a travel kettle into your case, great for having an early morning snack with, for example, some fruit and digestive biscuits.
Once you have done it, you'll be glad you did.
This year have already booked Paris/Reims, Genoa, Alicante/Murcia, and Valencia on my own. Good luck.

Never really appealed to me. Been alone when on courses and that was fine. Often alone normally day to day. But if making the effort to go through the hassle of a holiday I'd prefer being with company. Probably why I've not been away for years. Unless you like/crave solitude, or are socially minded and can converse with strangers with ease, rather than discomfort, then it may not be for you. On the other hand if you're a chatterbox and talk to everyone you may have a whale of a time. In and case you might hook up with a group on a coach excursion.
Love going on my own. This year will be going to Botswana and hopefully doing New York Marathon again. Have gone to Kenya, Costa Rica, Hungary, Argentina, Uruguay, Namibia, South Africa, Egypt and various other countries as an independent female traveller, and never experienced any problems. If I want to have time alone, it's great, and if I feel the need to go and chat to someone, I do the typical English tourist abroad bit and wear a football shirt, never fails to spark a conversation (had a very interesting conversation with a local guide in the middle of Mongolia about England's inability to take penalties).
Have a great time.
