Tintagel, the open air theatre in Cornwall.
If you like castles and ruins you could go to Glastonbury,Dunster or Totnes. I loveTotnes. The " castle" isn't much to see, but the town and surrounding are lovely. [please excuse mistakes in writing. Ipad playing up]

Lake Windermere is also stunning.

highest bridge above water is probably the QE2 bridge over the Thames at the east end of the M25. The tallest one is in Scotland

Yep, if you want bridges go to London. High bridge: Bristol Suspnsion. Lots of other things to do in both places too, of course.
