Persoanally I wouldn't go to Torrevieja any time - it's just a tourist dump and very, very hot in summer.

Haven't been but have a look on tripadvisor. The fact that it's full of tourists just proves how popular it is with those who like that kind of place. Very very hot is an added advantage (not that it's hotter than most places in the Med).

Once thought of buying there and went for a weekend. There are a lot of lovely bits, but it has been very overbuilt. The old market and harbour area were nice as were the salt marshes with pink flamingos. It will be very hot in Summer. You might be better looking for an hotel a bit further back in the hills. Can't remember the name of our hotel, sorry.
