Apparently Thomas Cook are offering their customers a way of reserving their sunbed at their hotels for the duration of their holiday. Doubt TUI will do the same.

I suspect that the trial will prove fruitless. I hope so
I'm rather inclined to agree. I think there will be too many problems rather than too few takers. The problem with the larger hotels is that their sunbed provision is often totally inadequate.
And the reviews on Tripadvisor won' t do the hotels any favours
I have never seen anything so ridiculous as that sun lounger scramble, talk about a stress free holiday.
It's quite comical, like a lot of chickens rushing to lie in rows on the spit.
That isn't normal for most hotels
I'm sure it isn't and I am naughty to find it silly.

It's just not me, I love some sun and light but would prefer to sit near trees etc.

Never been a sunbather.

It's what folk like that matters.
I love to sunbathe under trees. When I go on holiday, the first thing I look at on Tripadvisor is how much shade there is on the beach.
Alternatively ...

In one hotel I was in a few years ago a big family daily laid out their towels with a book and bottle of sun cream on each bed, but didn't come down til mid-afternoon. I only wanted a bed for half an hour one day so moved one person's stuff and found the bottle was empty and the book as stiff as a board. As were all the others.
^ I would throw out their towels. I have done that many times. It didn't go down to well but tough.
This may be new to Thomas Cook but there are hotels that already allocate a sun bed to each guest on arival which is theirs for the entire holiday.
For those using Money Supermarket to book holidays, there is already a "premium" package available but as yet, not in the UK . . . perhaps Brexit will ensure that it won't be?

^^Travel Supermarket^^ . . . . entschuldigung!
If the stupid holiday maker will pay this cost, they are making a rod for their own stupid self, would I pay it? you have more chance of me walking to Spain from the UK
Have only been to one of these places once - Majorca in 2006 as we thought our 3 year old daughter would enjoy the holiday clubs.

We vowed we'd never go back - and to this day, other than one disastrous holiday to Egypt in 2014, we've always gone for a villa with its own pool.

I can remember watching the mad rush from my balcony every morning at 7am - people were actually sprinting towards the sunbeds, even the fat chav women.

It was laughable and pathetic in equal measure, particularly as there was a fantastic almost empty beach a 5 minute stroll away.
