Anyone been to Karsiyaka, Kyrenia in north Cyprus? I think it's away from the usual touristy hotspots, we're thinking of renting a villa here next year, any thoughts/pointers/experiences would be appreciated.
Have you tried the Cyprus forum on tripadvisor. There are a couple on there that actually live in Kyrenia so could give you plenty of advice. I have visited the north but only on a day trip. It was cheaper than the south but found shopkeepers and cafes sounding like the pub reps you get somewhere like Magaluf trying their best to get you into their places all the time.
I've been many years ago and on business, crossing from Nicosia. Much poorer, much more 'Turkish' with all their attributes. I know someone who lives out there and enjoys it though....my guess is that it is still relatively unspoiled but for waste etc than the other side, places like Paphos now becoming a bit destroyed.
I'll have a look at that theshedman, thanks. My sister was there in May and she reckons I'll love it, I can't be doing with crowds or anywhere that's really busy, villa is really nice, own pool and not far from a quiet beach,I think we'll probably give it a go. Thanks DTC for your reply.
The only reason for going here is the villa is owned by friends, we've been offered it at a very reasonable rate, we've batted back and forth all week and decided we will probably go, thanks for all replies.
