Going To Liverpool

We are planning to visit Liverpool in Spring sometime. We are arriving by train from London, and as I hate driving it would be nice it I didn't have to at all. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where we should base ourselves ? Also things to do such as bus, boat and walking tours or anything that is a 'must do'

Internee......Liverpool is the most fantastic city to visit.....I've been a few times and never tire of it.

Dave has the details of where we went and what we saw on our last visit so when he arrives I'll get him to post on your thread.
Do stay near the Albert Docks though.....fantastic places to eat and exhibitions to visit....
You're wise to go by train...I always do.....taxis are cheap and the drivers so willing to talk and give you advice.

A boat trip on The Mersey is a must......and be prepared to sing along......The Cavern is interesting depending on your age I guess.....I'm a 60s child......there are terrific statues all over the city so take a camera......
It's a friendly and vibrant city.....and I'll get Dave who remembers everything to post some more....you will love Liverpool and its people.....x

the Cavern,the docks, the Pier head..the Mersey ferry trip....Liverpool is a fab place, was there a couple of years ago...many hotels to choose from, I'd stay somewhere city centre close to Pier Head area..much is within walking distance, but I think there are round the city tour buses to sightsee..a wee day trip to Southport perhaps...

Mal...how long to you plan to be in Liverpool? My first trip years ago was with a group of friends and we bought a Treasure Trails map of Liverpool.....google them if you don't already know about them.
One of our days was spent following the trail to discover the murderer!

It was wonderful...we saw so many interesting parts of Liverpool we would have missed and there are fantastic pubs along the trail to gather your wits as you try to solve the murder...do have a look...x

Liverpool truly is a great city...…..forget the stereotypical gags that are part of or English lexicon. I don't know how long you will be there so advising activities is not easy. However I can give you two places that are great venues to eat and have a good night out. Have been to both. My Daughter lives in Liverpool.
