I often wonder about people with young children especially babies and toddlers taken them abroad to places like Cyprus and Crete or turkey in the months of June,July, and August, the temperatures in those countries then are in the 80s,highly irresponsible in my opinion,a holiday in Britain would be much more suitable were the temperature is reasonable, would be better if they waited till the children were older.

I think when they are really little, they would enjoy a bucket and spade on a beach in Cornwall or Devon just as much as a beach in hotter climes. I know I did. It's the parents who want the holiday, not the kids.

"I was born and lived in a country far hotter than Cyprus or Crete or Turkey - what do you think my parents should have done Jordy?"

if you were born there you weren't abroad. You were in the only country you knew. Jordy is talking about holidays from cold to blistering hot.
"Virgin are trying to get kid friendly 1st class cabins but are having issues with the legislation"

I think the issue would be with the clientele not the legislation. I don't know many kids who could afford 1st class
OK what about my brothers who were not born there and lived in the UK until they were 3 and 6 and were shipped across the world to live elsewhere?
Sorry but whilst I dislike children on holiday I would not ban them - I tend to go where there are no children!
Because he's constantly making veiled digs at me, spice, and he's allowed to get away with it whilst (ironically) sunning himself in Cyprus.

What an unmitigated prat.
//I'd rather all the peeps on the plane, bus and other public transport to be older. More aware, respectable, educated and considerate for others positions due to life experience and trial and error may we say.//

BA there, Jordy. ;-)
Yes but Sqad, unless their parents are morons it shouldn't make any difference- we trogged about all over the world when I was kid and my ridiculous lily white skin never got burned once, because my parents were not utter fools.
Why has much of this thread turned nasty? Presumably because of who is saying it rather than what they're saying? Children born in hot countries are used to it, that's a given. It's no comparison with taking a 6 month old who lives England to spend a couple of weeks in 80 degrees.
I see them myself on holiday, struggling on the flight and then again on the beach with buggies, tents etc etc and the babies still cry.
There's a difference with being born somewhere and going on holiday though. In the Caribbean you see the whole family come down to the beach on a Sunday for a dip - it's lovely to see and all generations are there. They spend a few hours (under a gazebo ususally) and then go home again. They're not confined to the beach/pool all day, day after day like holidaymakers.
Why has Jordy sunning himself in Cyprus got to do with it?
There have been small riots over kids in 1st, by varying entitled twerps, if you fly with your baby or toddler you can hardly stick it at the back of the plane can you, nor should you have to, and 1st would be so much easier to fly than economy with a very small child, so I imagine they are thinking about that.

"Yes but Sqad, unless their parents are morons it shouldn't make any difference"

and there is the problem, many ARE morons, well perhaps that is a bit OTT, but certainly not educate or considerate.
There have been small riots over kids in 1st (I`ve never seen that) I`ve never seen small riots over kids on any aircraft.
I have to be honest, if I have saved up to travel first class I would not want to share it with a baby.
Cali as far as i'm aware kids and lap children / infants are allowed in 1st class on most airlines.
In fact only airline to officially ban children from 1st class is malaysia airlines, they rarely do long haul so it'd be moot getting 1st class anyhow and also didn't they loose a plane recently?

So what passengers complain about and what legislation's are in place are quite different. Anyhow this is about heat and not the flight aspect of the holiday
Yes they are, but my point is there is frequently eye rolling and complaining- we are generally not very child friendly when it comes to kiddies being a 'nuisance' by being kids, and I was pointing out Virgin are trying to address this by instigating child friendly cabins in 1st, that's all. some people are lovely travellers, some are horrible and most people are right in the middle, but it does shock me how child unfriendly some people are.
Very few airlines have First class (not sure any do on European routes) I think Air New Zealand bannned kids in First but I might be wrong.
On a flight, a kid would have to start being a nuisance for me to not want it on the plane. In my experience most kids just go to sleep after takeoff. When boarding, i'd never be prejudice to one and assume they're going to ruin the flight
SJ thought that was business class but may be wrong

Don't see why an airline would turn down the ££ for a business class seat.

Some adults are little brats also lol
I agree Calicogirl.
And babies are indeed a lot more resilient than you think.
