Booking.com
Has anyone on here used the above company, or had any problems with them. We have used them many times in the past, and apart from non communication from them when querying a bonus payment they should have paid to me, haven't had any problems.
Just recently i booked a hotel in Granada with them. A few days ago, I received an e-mail suggesting that the prices at this hotel had dropped, and as a regular customer I was due a discount. As I was on free cancellation, I cancelled, and re-booked at the new prices. I duly received the usual booking confirmation with all the details.
I was searching, for someone else, for the same hotel, for different dates, and in red, at the top of the page, it said this hotel was no longer on the booking.com website. A search for dates revealed no availability on any date. As this concerned me a bit, I e-mailed the hotel to explain that I had a reservation with them through booking.com, and due to the non appearance of them on their site, was my reservation still valid. I have had no reply.
I won't waste my time trying to contact booking.com because they never respond, either to public tweets, direct twitter messages, or e-mail. Trying to get them on the phone is also a total waste of time.
Just interested to know if anyone has had any problems with a booking, made and confirmed, that then turned out to be a 'non' booking at some stage. I have not paid any money which is good, but don't want to find myself without a hotel at the last minute.

I have been using them for years and have had only very minor problems. On the last booking a few weeks ago, I made a mistake on the checkout date - one day shorter than I intended - and phoned them as soon as I realised this. It was corrected and I had the new booking comfirmation in minutes.
Try phoning them. This is the number I used 0203 684 7923.

I have used booking.com and have not had any problems with bookings that I can recall other than once a place was listed at "the wrong price" so no confirmation. Once you have confirmation you are able to communicate with the hotel/guest house directly - that is worth doing. I am aware that single unit landlords have switched to airbnb - I won't use them because you cannot deal with them anything as easily as with booking.com. Airbnb require you to fill their files with personal details or else copy Facebook's to them (assuming you are on Facebook in the first place). I just want to book a hotel, this never requires anything more than a name and contact details and I am happy to keep it that way.
I had already e-mailed to the hotel with no response, so i took advice and phoned the hotel. It took a while to find out, but in fact, there was no reservation for us, so I was right to worry.
They did tell me that they were changing the way they booked rooms, and in fact their website is now very good, whereas it was very difficult to use before, would not load and couldn't get it in english (the hotel website not booking.com!) They are not using booking.com now, and it seems that booking.com took my reservation, and confirmed it but had not sent it through to the hotel. We arrive late in Granada, and wouldn't have wanted to try and find somewhere else to stay, if booking.com had failed us.
In the end, the hotel is available on other sites such as expedia, hotels.com etc. Have used expedia before and have been very pleased with the way they dealt with problems. I feel that I don't want to use booking.com now, even though all the hotels we have booked with them before have turned out OK.

At least you found out what was happening. I don`t usually use any of these companies (who mostly are all owned by the same company - Priceline being one of them) but they can be crafty. I used Expedia for the first time ever this year and paid with my visa debit card because the price was quoted in £s and I was paying Expedia. Turns out I was charged in Euros and was stung for loading charges. If I had known I was going to be charged in a foreign currency I would have used my Santander Zero card as there are no loading charges with it.

These sites can be a problem, all of them to a certain extent. The terms and conditions are not always as clear as they could be, and they do vary a lot. I was always a bit uncertain about air bnb but know many people who use them successfully. I can understand no company can ever get it right, but as long as they respond to communication when it does go wrong, and do their very best to get it resolved, I don't think you could ask more.
Unfortunately, my experience is that booking.com do not respond in a way that other companies do when there are issues, and that's why I feel that I don't want to use them again.

Booking is a decent venue finder service. Me personally have not had any problems, however have heard about some cases from others on forums and reviews. But these were due to venue owner's dishonesty. https:/ //www.j igsawco nferen. co.uk
