can anyone advise me on the quickest way/route to get to devon (Torrington) from newcastle upon tyne using any transport apart from car - (dont drive) and possibly the cheapest.

flybe.com fly from Newcastle to Exeter -try them.

By surface you have Virgin Trains from Newcastle to Exeter (book in advance for a cheap ticket) then local bus to Torrington. (4 buses a day, 2 on Sundays)

Alternatively National Express to Exeter and as above

Train takes 7 hours to Exeter, coach 10 plus. The first coach of the day will just make the last bus from Exeter - train is a little more flexible
