Been to Sharm el Sheik and loved it. Where else would you recommend for a quiet holiday on the beach, plenty of shops and bars in the evening? Not bothered about sight seeing, pyramids etc. Possibly Sinai only.

The only other "resort" type holidays in the Sinai peninsula are at Dahab and possibly Taba, but they are nothing like the size of Sharm. Hurghada is almost as large as Sharm, but doesn't have a similar feel to the place- there is no concentration of bars and restaurants in any one place as there is in Sharm although the hotels are similar- but Hurghada isn't in Sinai

hi

Dahab is a chilled out little place, a bit on the hippy trail, all the resturants face the sea. There are a few 5* hotels around a lagoon just a few mins aways from the town. Last time i was there Rays were swimming in the sea, so snorkling is fun. Its very different than Sharm, less commercial. You will have to get a flight to Sharm and a taxi or local bus to Dahab.

Taba is near the Isreali border and is full of Hotels, and is good to stay there and go across the boarder to Eliat for a day trip.

Have fun

I know someone who has been to Nuweiba (flew to Taba). Not sure what exactly was there, but they loved it. As itchyfeet mentions, is also near the Israel border, so they went to Eliat on a day trip to swim with dolphins.
