Oh, and avoid Guantanamo Bay :-)

Varadero is the main 'tourist resort' but its not in the sense we expect. The beach is to die for and a Taxi ride into Havana is a about 2.3 hours depending on your driver and where he stops off but it is the most magnifecent diverse city I have ever had the pleasure to visit. Its everything and more than I anticipated.
We stayed at the Barcelo Solymar AI which I loved. The bars in Varadero are either open air with teenagers salsaing outside or clubs where you paid $10 dollars each for entertainment and as much as you could drink.I believe its no longer $'s but its still fantastic value.
I was told we didnt need vaccinations so we just went gung-ho and nothing happened to us.Of course you should have them. Please be careful with the mossies and the sand-flies on the beach.I ended up in a clinic in Cuba because I had an allergic reaction to them and then I got a double whammy before I came home and had to go straight to hospital from the plane and had to attend the hospital dailt for days to see the consultant.I've been left with mossie scars on my legs.
Best country I've visited and best holiday and best people.
