going to monaco next month. what are the sights/attractions i should not miss?

The harbour is the obvious one, but we found the aquarium was very good - the building alone was impressive.

If you like Ferraris, there is service garage with an entrance in a side street. When we were there, my son, who before becoming an environmentalist loved them, just walked in. We chased after him waving at the guy in the office by the gate who waved back and continued with his lunch! We had unrestricted access to dozens of these beautiful cars from the latest to classics - most with the keys left in them. I wonder if they've tightened up on security since then.

If you have a look in the casino, you must use the toilets there - and watch the seat after you've flushed!

Walk round the F1 course, it takes about and hour and a quarter. Through the tunnel and round the harbour, so when you see it on TV you get a different perspective. The swimming pool on the front is quite cheap and an experience to go in. Get the train to Nice, its about a 20 minute trip and very picturesque along the coast. The whole place is quite magic.

Yes must be the Casino and the Palace, it's a lovely place.

If you are short of time then do the "touristy" things - walk up from the harbour to the castle (worth stopping at the aquarium on the way up). There are good views of the harbour from the castle at the top of the hill. Romantics will want to go into the church where Prince Rainier and Princess Grace are interrred. Walk the street circuit if you are an F1 fan and I would recommend a meal or at least coffee or a cocktail in David Coulthard's hotel (The Columbus) which is round at Fontveille. Monaco itself is very nice but you would enjoy a trip over to Nice (rather than Cannes) and there is a lot to see inland too - fantastic mountain villages and lovely countryside.

We went a few years ago, one good place was Stars bar, this is next to the main marina. it's a bit touristy but worth a visit, especially if your into F1. Don't be put off by some of the less attractive eating places, we found some really good ones, that didn't cost the earth.

The oceangraphic museum is worth a look.

You could also catch the train over to Italy. Just over the border there was a place with a huge open air market, great for cheap leather bags.
