Traveling down to Southampton this Sat from the midlands, I will be there about 6 hrs before I return home, when I'm there where should I go to visit or should I stay around Southampton, I was thinking of either Bournemouth, Poole or Portmouth.
I will be with the wife and we are in our late fifties so no night clubs, etc

WestQuay shopping centre is good for shoppers - you have a wide selection of decent shops like Marks and Spencer and John Lewis. You could go down to Gunwharf Quays which is a discounted shopping centre with the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. However, be prepared for delays!!
In the opposite direction to Portsmouth, you have the New Forest which is stunning. If you like walking then this is the bee's knees!! Some wonderful country pubs out there too!!!
You also have Winchester which you will pass through on the M3 on the way down to Southampton (assuming that you are using the A34). This is a great city which boasts a lovey city centre and breath-taking cathedral.
I have been in Southampton for 8 years now after moving down from Cheshire. I love it down here it is a lovely city! I have always found the Tourist Information Centre in the city to be helpful. Click here:

Enjoy your visit!

Hi there jrtv.
I am not too sure as to the song and Winchester I am afraid!!
My home town is Warrington. I moved down to Southampton with my step father and mum when I was 16. I did my A levels down here after which I was lucky enough to get onto the property when I was 18. I still miss my family in Cheshire and the Lakes, but I have no intention of moving back up there! I like the lifestyle etc down here too much; and Warrington does not compare!
