We're off to Cairo for a week at the end of May.

Are there any restrictions with regard to what we (or more specifically me, as a woman) can wear, given it's muslim orientation.

we stopped there last year on a cruise for 2 days, and we wore what we liked,we were not told any dress rules.you will love it if you like history, the pyramids at gisa and the museum are a must.
Only if you want to visit a mosque, I think. In which case, a scarf to cover the head is all that's necessary (and no shorts for men or women).

my dad is egyptian so we go every year to see family

if going into a mosque we always wear a chiffon type scarf over our heads and just make sure you dont wear strappy vest tops -t-shirts and longer trs and skirts are what they prefer.

enjoy tho, you will love it

wear something loose and comfortable as you will be really hot!! And drink lots of water!
