Can anybody recommend a Dover-Calais trip that doesn't cost a ridiculous amount? It's a car with 2 adults, 3 children at the end of May for seven nights. Are prices cheaper if you turn up on spec? Are there any travel clubs that I could join to get substantial savings? Thanks.

As far as I remember Seafrance used to be the cheapest surface crossing. If you use the tunnel, go at odd times eg 1am -5am. Its about (or used to be) half the price of going peak time (eg daylight!!!).
If you're quick, Hoverspeed are doing a Car + 5 passenger day return for 19 - says you must book by today (not sure what is cut off time though)
