No, you filthy lot, I didn't mean that!
Do you want vibrant nightlife and clubs, sightseeing, secluded? What?
If you want romantic seclusion, there's a little village in North Norfolk called Overstrand. It's a couple of miles down the road from Cromer, which is just a little livelier. Cromer's a very quaint, old fashioned seaside town, with a little museum, a pier, a lifeboat, a little park and a row of beach huts (lovely beach). Overstrand is a lot quieter and has the air of something like a Miss Marple setting, or perhaps the backdrop to Dad's Army. There are a couple of lovely hotels there - Sea Marge and Overstrand Court, which are very 'arts & crafts' in style.

If you live in England you should perhaps consider Scotland. There are many places there that provide peace and quiet and beautiful landscape right outside your window. For getting together as a twosome (and bonding), there are few things as calming but yet exhilarating (romantic too) as a walk in deserted countryside - but you need to have the inclination and energy to start, and in Scotlsnd the temptation is virtually irresistable. On the other hand there are Edinburgh and Glasgow which are widely regarded as among the liveliest and most worthwhile cities in the UK to visit. If you live in Scotland you know all this already. If you live in Wales or N-Ireland then you may not feel the need to leave home at all. If you actually live outside the UK then you should eventually try to visit all four countries - they are all worth it.
