Refreshments and a telephone call are mandatory at certain stages too. I suggest you obtain the legal details from an airport, airline, citizens' advice bureau or online. Keep the details of all your tickets, etc. safe and be prepared to do battle - airlines are known to try and wriggle out of this, including outright lies to say the passenger was at fault (one of my cases). Do not accept vouchers if it is a strong case and be prepared to go for a Small Claim in court. But make sure you know your rights in your specific case and stick to them for everyone's sake so the airlines accept the law (one or two already do, but other large ones don't yet). Good luck.
