I've read that the health care in Spain is very good, but would like to know what, exactly, is available to British people who have decided to retire there.
What one can't get in Spain at present is a Carer's Allowance in the same way that one can apply for in the UK. This was featured recently by BBC TV. See here. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/breakfas t/5307216.stm I understand the reason is because Spain is very still a family-oriented society and the family has much more of an expectation/obligation to look after older relatives when they become infirm than happens now in the UK.
Thanks, fellows; There's a lot to go at, there. However, I'll leave the question open in case anyone has first hand knowledge. In the meantime, I'll get on with reading through what you've given me. Thanks again.
Well, it just goes to show, that by leaving a question open, there is always the chance of a response. Thanks, Jane. I had meant to close the subject, as I have a good deal of information, already, but one can never have too much.
