Flight Upgrade
Hi, anyone ever asked for, and got, an upgrade when flying? Going on honeymoon next year and wondered what the chances are.

then to know others paying a tenth of that price getting the same treatment. If you want the comfort then just pay the extra its worth it, and nothing short of fraud trying to get something not paid for, if it such a special flight then make it special from the start

i've had them several times its normally if you are on a busy route you have more chance on your own as well as only ever got them then - also if you dress quite smart and looked groomed etc they would more likely ask you if you want an upgrade its normally the better airlines and normally as they over sell and move people into first class to fill economy = Royal Jordanian are good for upgrades as are most of the Canadian airlines - you also have more chance if there is a stop off as thats where they over book mainly coming back to London in my case. I have asked but also been offered them as well
You have an almost nil chance if you ask for an upgrade at check-in. You're just likely to annoy the check-in staff, who must get asked this question many times a day.
The only times I've been upgraded, have been when I've been flying an airline frequently in business class, and then happen to be taking a flight with them in economy. In these cases I have been upgraded a few times without asking, and once having asked if it were possible.
What Bordeaux says is right. If you've paid a full fare for business class, you don't really then want to be sitting in a cabin full of people obviously on freebies.

LuBlu,,
as the answer b4,,,
u have 2 hopes on getting a free upgrade (unless flight is full in economy)...1 of the hopes is BOB the other is NO...
if u have the extra and r willing to pay for the upgrade then the airline will take it,,,
but depending on were u r flying to will depend on how much it is to upgrade ur ticket,
ie. u r traveling london/kuala lumpur/australia, on Malaysia Airlines, the upgrade would only be from london to kuala lumpar and would cost in the region of 820 each up to 1020 this also includes the extra 20 u have to pay as airport tax that the govenment forces on all the airlines to pay.....
