you can pre-order, and pay for tickets before you leave, then collect them from the greyhound counter at the start of your journey. see http://www.greyhound.com/travel_information/pu rchase.shtml, will call ticket type (at the bottom).

Bear in mind that a ticket does not guarantee you a seat - Greyhound do not operate a reservations service. So unless you get a discount for advance puchase there is little point (ease of budgetting maybe) in buying them until just prior to travel.

Note that megabus have started a few routes in the US - these you can reserve.
