M1 Bank Holiday.
I know this is a daft question, but I need to drive to London on Saturday 5th May which is a bank holiday weekend. If this was you would you leave early say 6am or leave later about 10am. I am going from North Lancashire.

It is Bank Holiday so quite a few people will be travelling and although I think most would go on Friday, for the ones that can't for whatever reason, they will go Saturday.
For that reason, I would leave earlier than 10 (although I could never get out of bed for 6!) so that you miss the traffic.
The M6 (or whichever way you go) will be pretty busy at 10am on a saturday anyway, even more so with it being bank holiday weekend.

Personally I'd leave at 6am. Leaving at 10am would get you into Birmingham at dinner time (lunch time to you Southerners). There'd be lots of people on the road then even if they are just going to a garden centre/ shopping. Leaving at 6am would get you through Birmingham area before any most people are about. You'd be there in no time. Leaving at 10am would mean you probably wouldn't arrive in London until tea time.
Your question all depends on what you have to do when you get to your destination! If you can amble down leave at 10am but if you need the day leave at 6am. I live just outside of Chester so you're another hour on from me. I recently went to Cockfosters, that took 3 and a half hours. The toll on the M6 is pricy but cuts out quite a bit of traffic. Have a look the night before on the net for traffic updates you know how fantastic the Dept of transport are for deciding to start their roadworks on bank hol weekends!
