An open ended flight WILL be at a stoopid price. You need to get a reduced price return that will allow you (for a fee) to change the return date.

There will be some adverts to the right of this post - try a few of them .
Why do you want an open ended ticket? Are you planning on staying longer than 6 months?

yeah planingn for at least one yea, then going back again
You will need a visa for more than six months Lee. They can be quite strict. Have a look at the immigration website for more information. You dont want to be sent straight back coz you dont have a visa! Good luck.
buy a ticket with an end date with the flexibility to change it thats what i did to NZ and it was about 810 from london flight centre stopped at la australia rarotonga and nz and i could give them one week notice to travel it was air new zealand and quantas flights
