I am planning a couple of weeks in Venice/Florence in july with my parents and im wondering whats the best way to get from venice-florence or vice versa. I know Alitalia fly for about 78 one way, is it possible to catch a train?
Dzug you are confusing me! You say that RailEurope ar emore expensive yet then go on to say that I should find it cheaper than booking locally!!!
Is it not just ok to buy the ticket on the day before boarding the train? What other choice do I have? Its either railEurope or buy on the day (or day before), right?
Catch the train - Italian trains are good, clean and generally run on time http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html
Easy site to use to find out the times and prices.
The main station in Venice is called Santa Lucia - walk out and straight onto the #1 Vaporetto which will take you slowly all the way down the Grand Canal to St Marks Square. One vaporetto trip costs 6 or you can get a 24hr pass for 15
brilliant info auntibertie thanks! BTW I have been to venice 2 summers ago and not once was I asked on board the vaporetto to show my ticket! I did go on it about 20 times and they never did ask!
