Can any one recommend good holiday companies that deal with holidays for 1. I am nearly 39, based in the UK, and am prepared to travel any where in the world. Or is it easier to book independently?

I'm a solo traveller and it wouldn't normally occur to me to use an agency; it's simple (and usually far cheaper) to book independently. The only exception might be if I was looking for a break at very short notice (when it's too late to find any real bargains with budget flights). Then I might consider one of these:

PS: Remember that there are ABers who can help you plan your trip. Just tell us which airports are convenient for you, and when you want to travel. We should be able to come up with some interesting suggestions, which will probably cost far less than anything an agency can offer.

I can recommendThe Travel Collection for long distance travel if you want to meet up with other people also (just for friendship - not romance). They are also very reasonably priced compared to other group travel companies. I've been to the Maldives, Grenada, Nepal, Ecuador & Borneo (twice) with them & am going to China later this year. I've always met great people but you can be alone if you want to be. Most of their holidays combine relaxation with touring but are easy going - not permanently moving on at the crack of dawn. They are often just 2 or 3 centres. They usually include some excursions.
