We are borrowing a trailer to get us to France - what is the requirement regarding registration plates? Can we simply write it out on card for the trailer?
Also , we already have the ticket to Dunkirk but did not say we were taking a trailer. Will we have to let the ferry co. know??

You will need a proper registration plate (remember that now you need to take your V5 with you when you get a reg plate made up), lights (or light board) and a GB sticker. You may get away without them, but legally you need them. Ferry firms quite often charge extra, so phone them and find out, otherwise you could be leaving the trailer at Dover (or wherever)!
get the gb put on the plate at the same time.
