I am thinking of going to lake Garda next year, so was asking him about his holiday - he says that the rep told him that Garda itself was more functional rather than beautiful, but he didn't go himself - I have also heard that Peschiera is very nice - both places are handy for Gardaland theme parc. Aparantly the ferrys are very easy to get and you can travel from town to town using them. Limone in the north is also supposed to be lovely. Hopefully you will get a response from someone who has actually been though!
I went to Garda last September. You must visit Verona - very pretty town for sightseeing & good shops. Garda along the lakeside was good in the evenings - lots of restaurants & music. We did a few ferry trips around the lake to different places. Sirmione, with its castle on the harbour, is very pretty & classy. To do the whole Lake you need to go on a day trip. It is not possible to do by ferry - you do half by coach & half by boat - it's a good trip. From Garda it was very easy to go off to other little towns by ferry for a whole day - or just half a day if you want to get by the pool also.
i am going to try to describe to you where this lovely restaurant is. we stayed in a campsite about 20mins drive from limone. we were driving from the south so it was before limone, the campsite was on the beach and run by a german family, you had to drive under the bridge or something. anyhow. if you go up the moutain opposite the site, after about half an hour's walk you will come accross a hidden gem of a restaurant, with great view and amazing food.
