Alghero - Sardinia

I know we all hate these questions but here goes anyway, I'm flying to Alghero in Sardinia in a couple of weeks and am interested to find out if any ABers have been there and would have any recommendations of where to stay... looking for a B&B or Hotel, and the best beaches. [yes I have trawled the web and have a copy of the lonely planet but don't really know anyone else who's been there] thanks in advance :O)

There's a beautiful beach a short drive from Alghero in a place called Stintino. Most beautiful beach I've ever seen in my life. As far as I recall, Alghero's beaches are stony.

Cheers thewillow have booked half the time in Alghero itself and half the time in Stintino, the beach near there is called La Pelosa and by all accounts, including yours, it's stunning

Holy cow - someone has actually acted on a recommendation! The beach is truly captivating at Stintino. Alghero itself is also a very nice town..
