anyone been to sardinia?

hi,someone recently suggested going to sardinia for our honeymoon with our little boy,i have been looking and looks lovely,just what we want,has anyone been with any suggestions of wheres best to stay,is food and drink really expensive?we want to be able to stroll out and eat out in the evenings,looked at Alghero,seems to be a bit more going on with bars and shops etc.thanks
