My boyfriend and I are off to Blackpool for a few days in a couple of weeks time - we're in our late 20's but a quiet couple - has anyone any recommendations on must do things?

If you are quiet couple my suggestion is dont go to Blackpool !

There are so many nice places to go for a quiet break, and Blackpool is not one of them.

If do go, then get the tram and go right to the end of the line, Fleetwood I think it is.

It takes you out of the noisy centre of Blackpool and into the quieter suburbs of Blackpool to the end of the line, Fleetwood.

Also a stroll along the prom the SEA side of the road (rather than the noisy, untidy opposite side of the road) is nice.

Plus a stroll along the 3 piers.

Apart from that cannot suggest anything else (except the noisy fun fair, the noisy arcades, the noisy clubs and bars)
Blackpool is the last place you should go if you want peace and quiet,I live about 9 miles from there and I won't even do my shopping there. If it is already booked and paid for then you will have to make the best of it I guess, stay right away from the Prom and maybe take trips to outlying areas, there are bird sanctuaries and places like that all along the Fylde coast that are easily accessible by bus or train from Blackpool.

I meant quiet as in not into clubs
The illuminations are on until the 4th November. Have a look at this site - give details and also entertainment etc

Take no notice - Blackpool is like most places, you'll find things you like and avoid (hopefully!) the things you don't like! As JK2 says, the illuminations are on at the moment, if you are there midweek try taking a tram along the front - the best way to see them. If you go as far as Bispham you'll find a brilliant chippy up there. It's on the front, on a corner and is bright yellow (can't remember what it's called!). It has a cafe aswell as takeaway and is fantastic food. Have a look at the websites or look in at the tourist information office when you get there to find out what else is on. Have a good time.
I am sorry to say that I would have to recommend cancelling Blackpool. Last time I went you could not stand up straight in the street due to the very strong wind, horizontal rain, binoculars to see the sea, nylon sheets on the beds and the coffee satchets had been there for so long they had turned to stone. You also had to queue to go into the pubs.
there is nought wrong with blackpool, the chippy at bispham is bispham kitchen and its very good. try doing the lights, have a ride up to the freeport at fleetwood, catch a show at the grand theatre or caberet at the central pier, there are lots going on here, we moved here in january and it is great
