UK tourist numbers to Germany for the last 5 years.
1999 - 120 - 3 coachloads of SAGA louts from Cumbria spent 2 weeks touring Berlin and outlying districts. Several of the party were surprised to see just how off-target some of their bombs fell. An enjoyable two weeks was ruined for the entire party when Mavis 'caught a chill'.
2000 - 6 - 6 Businessmen from Harrogate were in Cologne to attend a sales conference for machines which make maltesers. All had a jolly good time apart from Morris - regional sales director, Southern Region (encompassing Milton Keynes) who contracted a dose of clap.
2001 - 3 - Asif, Ketan and Jim went on a long weekend from Luton to study post-war German architecture. Asif was arrested by German police and extradicted to America, the other two were re-patriated to Britain. Asif is currently awaiting charges at Guantanamo Bay, CUBA - which is ironic as his next vacation was going to be in the carribean anyway.
2002 - 30 - 30 lads from Keighley went on stag do to Munich and apart from drinking to many 'stein's' had a hilarious time repeating 'two world wars and one world cup we've won' for the entire weeks holiday. The German police were accused of not investigating with due diligence when the lead singer of the group was assaulted by a local.
2003 - 8 - 8 travel journalists left from Heathrow to conduct a tour of German comedy clubs. They returned to the UK three hours later.
2004 - 0 - so far.......................
***UPDATE**** No news yet on Mrs Gibbons Yucca but 2 more visitors to Germany. Mr Ramsbottom BSc Hons in Metaphysics from the University of Pawtucket and his son John - Silver lifesavers badge from Cheadle baths were visiting Cologne where an unfortunate translation of his surname gave rise to confusion resulting in a three hour detention by the German Police and an apology being issued by the commanding officer. Mr Ramsbottom has been released with no blemish upon his charcter.
