My husband & I are spending a weekend in Stratford-upon-Avon in the autumn and will be celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary whilst we are there. Can anyone recommend any good restaurants, maybe some with entertainment in the evenings? We're open to suggestions, although we would prefer an independent restaurant rather than a hotel restaurant . All ideas welcome! Thanks

When the wife and I spent the weekend in Stratford we stayed at Billesley Manor,which has an excellent restaurant, but for non-hotel eating I'd recommend either 'Restaurant Margaux' in Union Street or 'Lambs' in Sheep Street. Booking in advance is essential as they get very busy with the pre-theatre crowd. No entertainment at either I'm afraid, just excellent food - but you're only a stone's throw from The Other Place and The Swan :o)
