They will tell you which gate to go to where you climb aboard and have a plastic lunch on the way. Remember to get off at the other end and show your passport to a dodgy looking foriegn bloke with silly moustache. lastly spend half an hour looking for your bags on a circular conveyer belt before finding your coach/taxi to the hotel/
Mobile phones are not allowed to be switched on ipods are fine. Enjoy :)

One extra thing that has not been mentioned.
You need to pack a suitcase, and hand luggage.
The suitcase will be taken off you when you check in and stored in the hold of the plane during the flight.
Your hand luggage you take on the plane with you. Dont make this bag too big or it will not be allowed on the plane.
Find out in advance what you are allowed to take in your hand luggage (because of security), it may restrict tins of drink or other liquids.
Normally hand luggage is stored in the compartment above your head but it can be difficult to get to during the flight so make sure you have magazines or books, and some refreshment (drink etc), on your seat beside you.

If you have never flown before then note the following.
There is the "public" side of the airport, and the "departure" side of the airport.
Anybody is allowed into the public side of the airport. This is where you check in etc.
But to board your plane you need to be in the departure side of the airport.
To get from the public side of the airport to the departure side of the airport you have to go through security. There can be quite a queue for security so dont leave it to the last minute or you may miss your flight.
Once you are in the departure lounge there wil be shops and places to buy food and drink so you are probably best going straight to the departure lounge after you have checked in.

During the whole flight process you need to show your passport and tickets a number of times (both at the departure airport and the arrival airport).
To make this easier make sure you have a zipped compartment on your handbag or hand luggage that can hold your tickets and passport.
Each time you show them make a deliberate point of putting them back in the compartment and zipping it up.
With everything that is going on at the airport it is very easy to lose track of where your tickets and passports are and you can easily lose them (or get them stolen).
If you have one place where you store them they are much safer, and easier to find when you need to show them.

Make sure you have at least SOME foreign money before you take your flight.
You may well need some money at the airport when you land to pay for taxi or bus to your hotel.
You can change money at the departure airport, and you can do this with a debit card or credit card (although you will pay interest on it if you use your credit card).
Be careful if you have lots of foreign money. Look after it carefully and try not to keep it all in one place.
Consider buying a neck wallet (you can buy them at the airport) for your money. It is a nice feeling to know your money (and maybe even your credit cards) are safely round your neck and cannot be stolen from your wallet in your trousers or your purse in a handbag.
